With the theme “coming home”, this project aimed to produce a tangible experience based on smart and connected technologies.
A lot of power management systems for houses and apartments exist, however, most of them require a digital interface on a screen, an application displayed on a device.
Our power management system would be different from the others, in a way that it could be controlled without any touchscreen or digital application.
Individual household appliances are assigned to specific knobs which are placed on the Interface (located at the entrance). Depending on the position of these knobs and whether the user is at home or leaving the home, home appliances will be switched on or off. Furthermore, the system allows extend control such as the dimming of lights, switching on devices such as televisions, or delaying the start or stop of a washing mashine for instance.
When the user leaves the home, the Power Management System ensures that assigned devices are completely shutdown, providing safety to the users home. This project was conducted together with Tanguy Desurmont.
